Barna (Hungary): five times World Champion in men’s individual of which 4 were consecutive (1930-1932-1933-1933-1935)
Bergmann (Austria – England): four times World Champion in men’s individual (1937-1939-1948-1950).
Ghuang Tse Tung (China): three times World Champion in men’s individual in the consecutive Championships of 1961-1963-1965
Rozeanu (Romania): six times World Champion in women’s individual in the consecutive Championships of 1950-1951-1952-1953-1954-1955
Mednyanszky (Hungary): five times World Champion in women’s individual of which 4 were consecutive (1926-1928-1929-1930-1931)

Men’s Doubles

Mixed Doubles
Wang Tao-Liu Wei (China): three times World Champions in mixed doubles in the last three World Championships (1991-93-95)

Besides these great athletes, there is also a number of other significant players who played a leading role in the sport. Examples include:
Men: Leach, Andreadis, Ogimura, Sido, Tanaka, Cuo Yuehca, Jiang Jialiang, J-O Waldner J. Persson, Joyner, Stipancic, Surbek, Li Fu Jung, Dolinar, Secretin, Alser, K.Johansson, Klampar, Appelgreen, U. Carlsson, Gatien, Saive, Ma Wenge, Lindh, Primorac, Lupulescu and the Greek athlete Kalinikos Kreanga has the 6th place at the Table Tennis world ranking.
Women: Matsuzaki, Alexandru, E. Zeller-Constadinescu, Pak Yung Sun, Dal Lili, Liu Wei, Bergeret, Deng Yaping (twice Olympic Champion in women’s individual).

also wenn das keine kuriose auswahl ist. unter den zuerst genannten endet die liste in den 60er ! und unter weiteren genannten sind zwar saive, ma wenge, lindh und primorac aufgeführt, aber nicht der amtierende weltmeister schlager
